Donna Macfarlane


Donna Macfarlane practices family law with HGR Lawyers. Donna's undergraduate studies were at University of Toronto and York University. She began her law school studies at the University of Calgary where she was living at the time and completed her law degree at Osgoode Hall Law School in North York. She is presently enrolled in the LL.M. programme at Osgoode, specializing in Alternative Dispute Resolution.

After articling with Houser Henry in Toronto, Donna worked for Garfinkle Biderman in Toronto practicing commercial litigation and family law. Donna lived in the U.S. and U.K. for approximately nine years before returning to Canada and settling in Midland.

Having joined the firm of HGR in early 2004, Donna's work includes the negotiation and preparation of Separation Agreements, Co-habitation and Marriage Contracts, Adoptions, and the litigation of family law issues. She is a strong advocate of Mediation and the Collaborative Process.

Donna is Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Georgian Bay General Hospital in Midland and serves on the Board of Directors of Collaborative Practice Simcoe County. As well, she has served on the Board of Directors of Huronia Transition Homes (operating Rosewood Shelter in Midland and Athena's Sexual Assault Counselling and Advocacy Centre in Barrie and Choices for Children ) and on the Board of Directors for the Midland and Orillia Ontario Early Years Centre. Donna's leisure interests include travel, gardening, camping and skiing.
