Natalie Derbyshire

Natalie Derbyshire joined BSLSC as a family law associate in October 2009. In 2002, she graduated from York University with a designation of cum laude, having earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree. She double-majored in Law & Society and Sociology and was academically-acclaimed a Dean’s List student in 2002, as she achieved a grade point average that placed her in the top 5-6% of the student body.

During her studies at Osgoode Hall Law School, she volunteered at C.L.A.S.P. (Osgoode’s Community and Legal Aid Services Programme) where she gained practical experience assisting members of the community with legal matters free of charge. Prior to graduating in 2005, she also successfully completed the Pro Bono Students of Canada Programme.

Natalie completed her articles at a boutique law firm. In 2006, she was called to the Bar of Ontario. She now practices family law exclusively and is pleased to offer assistance to clients requiring legal advice pertaining to the issues of divorce, support, property division, custody and access.

Collaborative family law is cost-effective dispute resolution strategy that can be a recipe for a "win-win" outcome; the process can deliver excellent results for participants who are seriously committed to facilitating creative legal problem-solving in a transparent, open, honest, and respectful manner.  Through interest-based negotiation clients are able to maintain control over the resolution of issues arising from their separation.
