The Collaborative Advtange

Cathy Cartwright

Cathy Cartwright is a registered social worker (RSW) and an accredited family mediator (AccFM) experienced in working with distressed men, women and children over the past 19 years. Services have included assisting both victims and accused persons of domestic violence, the families and children in child protection matters, people who have suffered from self-esteem issues, relationship issues, and losses.

"I believe people cannot separate their biological, psychological, social and spiritual components; thus knowing oneself, within one’s environment, and making meaning of one’s situation, is healthy. I am aware that people struggle with stress, grief, loss and relationship issues, including parenting and co-parenting, and financial issues."

Cathy majored in mental health, minored in criminal justice and audited addictions while attending George Brown College, achieving her Human Services Counsellor designation. She continued onto York University and completed a BA in Psychology, as well as a Bachelor and Masters in Social Work. In addition she is accredited as a family mediator through the Ontario Association of Family Mediators.

Cathy has provided information at forensic conferences at the Mental Health Centre in Penetang and through the Ontario Association of Children's Aid Society. She has volunteered at Rainbow's helping grieving children, as well as supporting victims of crime with the Police Service.

"I believe that fairness, cooperation and sharing resources are vital to building lasting relationships, where people can be counted on personally and professionally to help each other by giving of themselves and their time."

Please feel free to contact me directly through phone 705-443-1957; email cathy.cartwright@sgbfm.ca; or check out the website www.sgbfm.ca. I can meet you at my Collingwood office, in Barrie or in your home community.

Until we connect directly, please remember the value of self-care.

Thank you,

Cathy

I recognize that the collaborative, alternative dispute resolution philosophy fits for me both personally and professionally. I believe this way of working is being recognized as being a better and more sustainable way to help people change behaviours which can result in lasting decisions and solutions to issues in their lives.
