The Collaborative Advtange

Aaron Mintz

I bring a unique set of experiences and skills to the practice of law, shaped by living and working across Canada. Before my legal career I worked as a programmer, which helps me focus on the underlying meaning of legal documents and understand the procedure needed to assist my clients.

I received an undergraduate degree with honours in mathematics from Queen’s University and attended law school in New Brunswick. While in law school, I edited the law journal, co-authored a paper on the historical rights of Metis and non-Status Indians, and volunteered my time to assist students with tenants’ rights issues. I articled and, after being called to the Bar in 2013, worked as a staff lawyer in Timmins at a Community Legal Clinic, dedicated to helping clients in need of help with their landlord and social assistance issues at no cost. The Clinic reinforced just how much of a force for positive social change a good lawyer can be, and I attempt to reflect that in my private practice.
Collaborative Practice gets the focus away from the theatre and formality of the courtroom back to where it belongs, with a couple sorting out what works best to allow them to move forward with their life.
